Research & Development is a key concept for the Hampidjan group. We develop our trawls on an ongoing basis in collaboration with the practical fisherman and several research institutes worldwide. At the Sintef flume tank in Hirtshals, our trawl models are throughly tested in view to ensuring optimum fishing performance. The new products are subsequently tested by the fishermen at sea - another valuable kind of co-operation.

Hampidjan Group are also recognised world leaders in supplying trawls with different rigging for fishing with single, double, triple or multiple trawl systems.

Midwater Trawls

Icelandic fisheries reached a turning point in 1989 following changes in the Icelandic quota system. Freezer trawler operators were forced to target species which were not regulated by quotas. Hampidjan took part in this drive by designing the Gloria midwater trawl.

The Gloria trawls have been adapted to circumstances in each area and in general 3 types of Gloria trawls are now available. The first type is the High Opening type, where horizontal opening is 30 to 40% greater than the vertical, the second one has the horizontal opening about double to the vertical and the third type has horizontal opening three times larger than the vertical.

 

Bottom Trawls

Our bottom trawls work with optimum efficiency and various bottom conditions, and ensure effective fishing both at great depths and in shallow waters. The production and design of bottom trawls are based on many years of knowledge and experience.

We make bottom trawls for species, such as Shrimp, Lobster, Cod, Hake, Squid, Flatfish, Sandeel and Orange Roughy.
